Smile, It is Friday

Happy Friday!

Happy belated St. Patrick's Day too! As a former Irish Step dancer (hey, once an Irish Step dancer always an Irish Step dancer, right?) I saw this cake and immediately thought of my best friend, Elizabeth! We always did everything involving dance together: classes, practice, private lessons, competitions, showcases, volunteer shows, post-show dinners, shoe fittings, EVERYTHING! This cake almost made me cry I wanted all that back so badly, but then I started laughing because I was about to cry over cake. Pretty, isn't it?

I'm having a good hair day, just thought I would let you know!

I just wanted to share that cake with you, but more later.

I'm Such A Slacker

Hey There!

I haven't blogged in ages... I'ld like to say I've been busy, but that's a bit of a lie.

My new love? Tumblr!! I know what you are thinking, "How can you manage a blog AND a Tumblr when you never blog in the first place??" I was right, wasn't I? Well, I don't know, I can manage. Tumblr is simple and if you love photography then you should get one!

http://high-school-transplant.tumblr.com/

Oh guess what! Ann is moving closer from where she goes to school now! She is transferring at the end of the year! She is changing her major to photography, but I can't convince her to get a Tumblr.

I threw a surprise party with my brother Micheal last night. I don't think I ever introduced you to my brother Micheal even though I blog about him a lot. So yeah, if you have read about him before that's Micheal. It was fun. The party was originally my idea and was for his best friend, my best guy friend, Sean. We had funnel cakes with lots of toppings!

little black dress-Target, sneakers- Converse All Stars
That was the look last night. Sorry for the bad picture; maybe I should get some help from Ann. Hopefully I'll get some better pictures her boyfriend took and maybe I'll upload those.

'Till Later,
~Kate

Boy, Why You So Obsessed with Me?

I, Kate, have a stalker. Not a real-call-the-cops stalker, but an annoying boy who really likes me. I was nice at first, not realizing he REALLY likes me. For I've never been the girl every guy is after and while dealing with heaps of other boy drama, I thought he was just a friendly guy. Then he got weird and I had to get rid of him. How was I supposed to that? I tried be boring, but that just escalated the annoying behavior as he worked to get to know me better. I didn't want to me mean, but he was driving me crazy! I tried to ignore his calls, texts, random chatter at school, and Facebook comments... Then after about the fourth time he asked me out and I turned him down, I just said: I don't want a boyfriend! In actuality this isn't really true, I just forgot to add "I don't want a boyfriend who I feel like stalks me!" The weirdness has died down a bit, but really how is a girl to deal with that kind of actions?

This isn't about him. It's about me (as usual!). Here are my current obsessions and don't worry, none of them are call-the-cops worthy...

-J.Crew- I went skiing over holiday break and went to a J.Crew outlet. I've always liked their clothes, but now I keep finding myself making my way to their website, visiting their stores, and making set after set on Polyvore with their items. It is becoming a problem. See that J.Crew top??

-Pearl Earring Studs- At camp this summer, I noticed this girl with dark hair who always had on giant pearl earring studs. They really stood out against her dark hair. I quickly forgot about the potential trend until later that summer. Our varsity swimming assistant coach, who is also a brunette, always wore pearl earrings too. They reminded me of the girl from camp and I instantly just had to get a pair! I made my way to Dillards to picked myself up a pair and I wear them most everyday.

-Facebook-Polyvore-FormSpring- I have a really unhealthy obsession with these websites. I'm proud to say though that I'm now using Facebook in French. Those of you that are friend with me, I don't really care that you can't read my profile! Polyvore was my first obsession and you please visit me by following my link on the sidebar. Have a question you want to ask? FormSpring is the place to ask! The can also be found on the sidebar.

-Hippie Headbands- I rarely wear this trend out, but while I sit at the computer screen I find myself wearing my headband around my forehead and I do believe it helps me come up with more creative, "free" ideas. haha I bought some at Target today actually!

-Straightening my Hair- I know my hair will probably be fried to a crisp soon, but I find straightening my hair a stress reliever. Go ahead and laugh...I can't hear you. Really though, I feel more pulled-together and less plain when my hair is straightened and that's coming from a girl with naturally pencil straight hair.

-The song: I Heart ? by Taylor Swift- I don't know if this song is going to come out of CD or when it was even released, but I LOVE it! I can't find it on iTunes but I listen to it on YouTube and it is my current ringtone (on my NEW phone I got for Christmas, the Tap!). There are some days where you will catch my writing and "I ♥ ?" on the back of my hand...listen to the song to figure it out!

Wherever Nina Lies

Eep! I just love fabulous books; not books that are just ok, but books that make you want to stand on something at the bookstore and shout, "Need a good book?? Over here!!" while you wave the book around. You would then have to stop waving the book around long enough so that others could at least see the title, right?

Well the book, Wherever Nina Lies, is one of those books! Written by Lynn Weingarten, the book was published last winter (January 2009), but I didn't snag it until two days ago at the library.

Here is the low down: Ellie's sister, Nina has been missing for two years. It seems as if most people have given up hope that she will ever return, all except Ellie. After work one day, she and her best friend find a clue that leads Ellie on an adventure to find her sister. Sketches, which are actually in the book, and quirky characters tell Ellie and this alluring new guy, Sean where to head next...everywhere from Nebraska to Arizona to California.

The book is fast paced and only spans about of week of time. The characters are unique. Nina is artsy and bold. Ellie is sweet and heroic. Amanda, the best friend is just like every girls dramatic friend. (You know you have one...) Sean is well...you'll have to read the book to find out about him. There are more twist in this book than a Kennywood roller coaster. The ending is freaky and it will keep you guessing until the end.
